remote should work as soon as you run the install-i686-lirc script.

I have a similar setup (at least as far as video cards go). I got a cheap Radeon 7000 with both the VGA and SVideo out on it. In MS-Windows, it can be a dual monitor setup (TV and computer monitor), if desired.

I'm having trouble getting the SVideo out to show up right on my TV and the TV signal is all "scrambled" and out of sync even after replacing the monitor section with the TV monitor section from a different config file. I'd think that NTSC TVs would all use exactly the same monitor info since they're set to only use one refresh rate and resolution for everything.

Also, if I boot up with both my computer and TV monitor plugged in, I see the same thing on both monitors until it enters X-windows and then my TV monitor goes out of sync and scrambled and my computer monitor gets extremely bright (like I have the brightness turned up all the way).

If you did something to solve these issues or if you have a configuration file you could share, I'd appreciate it--since your setup seems to be working and mine isn't.

Thanks! Thanks!

I would imagine the previous poster was just displaying to a monitor, if you search the forums for ati video you will see that there are several threads about trying to get tvout working properly on ati cards, and the general consensus is don't bother it is a pain in the you know what, and when you do get it working it doesn't work well. Don't blame linux, blame ati. They have not realeased any specs for open source devs to code good drivers, and their proprietary drivers suck. Nvidia doesn't help out open source either, but at least their proprietary drivers work.
