Post subject:  Syntax Olevia Televisions VGA

These are great TVs, but they don't work right with the X configurators over VGA (they return bunk values for DisplaySize.) This makes the fonts all really big (REALLY big, only about 5 letters fit on screen at once.) I have an LT32HVE but I have seen postings other places about this same problem with other Olevia models, but I figured I would post the fix here for anyone else who has problems for archival purposes:

1) Measure your TV in millimeters (just the screen, no case.)
2) Edit /etc/X11/XF86Config-4
3) Find the "Monitor" section of the config
4) Add "DisplaySize x y" in the "Monitor" section, where x and y are the respective measurements of your TV in mm
5) Restart X.

This should make everything work properly, so you can swap between 4:3 and 16:9 modes as well.

It would probably help if you posted your XF86Config-4....

I have the LT30HV and I've finally gotten good modelines and displaysize. I'm not happy with my displaysize, but it will due for now until I finalize it. I could NEVER find the pitch size of Syntax monitors, but this site might help you find your timings and other monitor details:

For me, I use the DisplaySize 550 310 , use this for more informations:
