I purchased this drive a few weeks ago at that same sale price. It is very quiet and performance support recording 2 hi-def, 1 std-def and playback of 1 hi-def without problems. I am very happy with it.

Just curious, what sort of horsepower and motherboard are you using to handle all this?
Thanks, Ziggy

I should add that I can also transcode to xvid in the background using mencoder at the same time. My setup is as follows:

1. Pentium D-930, dual core, 3.0 ghz
2. 1 GB RAM
3. 400 GB EIDE drive -- contains root partition and is where I output all transcoded recordings to.
4. 500 GB SATA drive -- contains /myth partition and all original recordings.

The intent of this disk setup is to improve performance when running parallel processes. Database I/O and transcode writes do not contend for disk access with recordings...
