Hi People,

My brain is just now working today and I cannot seem to find how to "fix" my database. The way I use to do it under 5.5 is below (per the WIKI).

1. Make a database backup using mythbackup.
2. /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend stop
3. /etc/init.d/mysql stop
4. Disable any watchdog scripts you may be running.
5. cd /var/lib/mysql/mythconverg
6. myisamchk -r *.MYI
7. myisamchk -a *.MYI
8. /etc/init.d/mysql start
9. /etc/init.d/mythtv-backend start

What I was tring to do with the new version was
/etc/sv
sv stop mythbackend
sv stop mysql

And here is my issue, I an not find the location of mysql (it is not under the old /var/lib/mysql/mythconverg). Could a more enlightened individual please let me know where it is?

Thanks,

Paul

Database is now located in /data/srv/mysql/mythconverg and the commands to stop/start the daemons are no longer valid.

There really should be a script for doing this. There used to be two (one bash, one perl), did they both disappear?

What were these called?

/usr/LH/bin/optimize_mythdb.py
/usr/share/mythtv/contrib/optimize_mythdb.pl

In 5.5 I used MythWeb to repair the data base. You have three choices
Optimize Tables
Repair Table
Extended Check

If you scroll down the page it will tell you which file is corrupt.
So far it has worked for me.

I anyone can tell me what extended check means please post it

I was unaware of the scripts to do this. Thanks very much I appreciate the feedback. Unfortunately my database was way too gone (thanks to my 3 year old and the power button (going on...off...on...off). Anyways, I am now on the latest copy of R6.02.

Thanks once again for the location of the scripts.

Paul
