Is anyone else having stuttering problems with playback on LinHES since the last update

My Esprimo Desktop has been working fine for months but since the last update playback occasionally stutters then clears itself and may play fine for the rest of the recording or randomly have another bout of stuttering.

Has anyone any ideas?

This is playback not on the recording itself correct?
I haven't noticed any problems on my system.

Just played the a recording over the LAN that I was watching on the TV, it seems to stutter more when playing over the LAN. I haven't changed any of the settings since in stalling the box.

Not seeing anything new or unusual here.

When you watch it in the tv does the stuttering happen in the same place or is it random?

If in the same place you might have a hardware issue on the capture side, if random then possibly an issue with your pc. Depending on your network setup, could be an issue with your routers/switches.

One thought, have you rebooted everything?

I would suggest that you run top from an ssh session when you are experiencing the problem and see what other process are also running. Might be something as simple as mythfilldatabase running in the background as well.

If its any help, if during a stutter I pause the playback and then resume it seems to fix the stuttering.

If I have a damaged recording from my antenna it usually plays back better on my FE than my PC. The playback engine in MythTV is the best at playing broken files.

The symptom sounds familiar but can't recall the problem or the fix.

Really sounds like there is another process running that's using to much CPU. Whats does top say about CPU utilization for mythfrontend? A long time ago (.25 ) we had to use pause_mythcommflag to keep things playback smooth.

Years ago on much older hardware I had a problem of the playback stuttering every 5 seconds. It turned out to be that my hardware couldn't playback and commercial flag at the same time.

Ok I found what I was thinking about. You might want to checkout this link, It also explains why pausing and the resuming playback fixes the problem.

Have you checked your playback profiles just to be sure that you are using the correct one.

Just a thought.
