I want to build a frontend to connect to A Sony Trinitron CRT with component video. Cards with a 7-pin s-video port support a component video breakout cable. The only models I came across so far are a geforce 8400 gs or a geforce 9400 gt. These also support VPDAU. Does anyone have a card like this they would like to sell? It could be standard height or low profile. It just has to be PCI (not PCI-e).

Try looking for an HD-3000 video card
http://www.pchdtv.com/hd_3000.html

or a HD-5500

Hope that helps

The PCHD-3000 only is able to input S-VHS (Super-VHS) not output video like a video card. S-VHS and S-Video is not the same thing. The Super-VHS VCR's were only available for a short time and never caught on. If I remember correctly Super-VHS had a resolution of about 400 lines where a standard VHS VCR is only 240 lines. You might have a hard time. I would check what versions of Nvidia video drivers are currently available in the latest release. I came up with Nvidia graphics 304.135-6, 340.102-8 and 384.59-3
I would go to http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html
Under section Linux x86_64/AMD64/EM64T
Look under the supported products tab to find out what card would possible work for you. Even then you may have to do work around.
It looks like Ebay for $20.00
