Is it possible to get the latest Plex server version (current is 1.16.0.1226 I believe) on the repos - need to be at 1.16.1 or higher (live TV requirement)? Thanks...

Have you tried to update the PKGBUILD file and build the package? I just ran through it with kodi and could try plex, but I've never used it before and may not be able to test it very well. I'm not sure what the current status is with official development in LinHES.

OK - after much churning I have finally been able to get the latest Plex to install. I found the PKGBUILD in the AUR repository, played with that and successfully installed. But... given LinHES uses services (sv) to control the start/stop applications I do not know how to build (or alter) a plexmediaserver sv file... Can someone get me started?

Thx.

FYI, it appears that the repos were recently updated to a newer version of plex as well.

Is there an easy way to update Plex media server?
I'm running it on LINHES can I reinstall it again via the menu options to update?
Can someone post a guide?
I did see this too.
https://appimage.github.io/Plex/

I want to update to 1.18.2 or higher as after the 31st of January TV artwork will not be able to be updated.

thanks for any help.

@Ryan555

I saw activity a while ago from brfransen on this and assumed that it was updated on the main repository, but it is actually in the testing repo. You could switch over to the testing repository and run
Code:
sudo pacman -Sy plex-media-server
It appears to contain 1.18.2:

It does contain 1.18.2. I should add that if you use the package build from the AUR repository, it will install 1.18.4 (current Plex release). There is a problem with 1.18.4 and live tv. I recommend that you stick with 1.18.2... I had to regress to 1.18.2...

plex-media-server-1.18.2.2058-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz can be found in the extra-testing repo
here: http://linhes.org/repo/x86_64/extra-testing/

How do I switch to that file.
Do I copy it somewhere and then run the same command.
or do I run the command with the extra testing repo location.
I tried looking up what do to but could not find a clear answer.

The easiest way is going to be running these two commands:
Code:
wget http://linhes.org/repo/x86_64/extra-testing/plex-media-server-1.18.2.2058-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz
sudo pacman -U plex-media-server-1.18.2.2058-1-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

Is there any way to get the latest plex media server into the repos? Looks like they are up to 1.21 now. The version in the repo is 1.18.2.2058 and the roku tv app will no longer play. It gives an error stating that it needs version 1.18.3 or higher.
