Does anyone use Mythweb frontend to watch recordings away from their home? I tried to get this to work but ran into some issues. Before I spend a lot of time figuring out what is wrong or missing, I am wondering if anyone is using it for this function (watching recordings away from home) and if so, how well does it work. I used to have Plex but got away from it so that would be the other solution if this is just not ready.

If you use Mythweb frontened:
Does it take long to load?
Is the video quality good?
Can you pause/FF/REW?
Can you jump to any point in the recording?

Thanks.

The last time I tried to use the web plugin it was a bad experience but I don't remember exactly why. If I wan't to watch on on another PC I just fire up Kodi and let it deal with the MythTV backend stuff. I have never punched through my firewall so that I can watch videos away from home.

I tried to get it to work several releases ago... And have tried every so often since (don't put much time in it though since the experience is horrid). Like @mattbatt, I use a different frontend (Plex) for remote access and it works beautifully. Plex is available on most of my devices (mobile, laptop, TVs, game consoles, Roku...).

No longer worth the effort...

I only use Web Frontend on my LAN; seems to be working well for me using LinHES 8.5 all-in-one and Ubuntu 18.04, Firefox and VLC for a remote frontend to view recordings on the LAN. I can also view recordings on the LAN Web Frontend on my ancient Android tablet (Firefox & VLC) and on my iPhone 6s Plus (Safari or Firefox and VLC).
