I'm having trouble with my Visionplus DVB-T card - it sometimes crashes when changing channels. Then I can't watch TV even after restarting X and mythfrontend. I need to reboot before I can watch TV again.

This is what mythbackend.log looks like when it crashes:
Code:

it could be that the channelsignal is to weak, i have a similar proplem but only with 3 channels.
If it is the weak signal, try an other antenna

like what Dawas said, I think it's definitely signal strength. I have similiar problems with my HD3K at signal of 70%. Sometimes it would work and sometimes my whole frontend dies. At the end, I move my antenna from 2nd floor to the third floor and point at the right direction and now everything works great.

Okay, it does seem to be related to poor/weak reception ..

Still, it shouldn't crash mythtv! I wonder if the latest cvs is less sensitive to bad reception ..

If anybody knows, please post it .. otherwise, i'll post it when i try it (when i have time) :)

Sorry to drag up old news, but I am getting this problem when I am trying to record a show, from Mythbackup.log:-
Code:
2005-09-02 20:29:31.519 DVB#0 WARNING - Unsupported code_rate_hp option.
2005-09-02 20:29:31.527 DVB#0 WARNING - Unsupported code_rate_lp parameter.
2005-09-02 20:29:31.529 DVB#0 WARNING - Unsupported constellation parameter.

The log then contains a lot of other errors and then does not lock on the channel. The problem is though I can watch TV fine. Admittedly when I install KnoppMyth I only have a signal strength of 30%, but as I said, I can watch TV fine.

Anyone got any pointers, or sammo how did you go?

Hi Girkers,

I still get the occasional lock-up while changing channels.

Although now I don't need to reboot - There is something in mythtv-setup to open DVB cards only when required ... turning that on seemed to help ...

I have set this and you are right it is important, I may have to look at my signal strength.
