In trying to get my HD3000 to change channels via MythTV (I could do so manually), I foolishly tried to install the 2.0 drivers.

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=3828

When I do this I get the following errors:

Code:
su -c "mkdir -p ; cp -v firmware/dvb-fe-or51132-qam.fw firmware/dvb-fe-or51132-vsb.fw firmware/dvb-fe-or51211.fw "
mkdir: too few arguments
Try `mkdir --help' for more information.
cp: copying multiple files, but last argument `firmware/dvb-fe-or51211.fw' is not a directory
Try `cp --help' for more information.
make: [install] Error 1 (ignored)
(snip)
su -c "./scripts/patch_modprobe.sh"
File: /etc/modprobe.conf not found

OK, I say to myself, I'll fall back to 1.6 drivers. I used the drivers included with KnoppMyth R5. Installing these gets this:

Code:
./minstall
FATAL: Error inserting cx8800 (/lib/modules/2.6.9-chw-4/v4l2/cx8800.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

I found this thread on mythtv-users

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/m ... .ko;#95375

Is there any other way to start from scratch and get the 1.6 drivers back up and running? I tried to do "make uninstall" with the 2.0 drivers; that didn't work.

Thanks.

you do run mythbackup and then do an autoupgrade.

on a side note why were you trying to upgrade to the new drivers? I've heard about them, but haven't really heard what advantage they may have other than using dvb, which I'm not really sure what advantage that provides either other than possibly ota guide.

:) Now THAT I understand. If there's no other way, I'll do that.

I thought I had the card working with R5, but it turned out that I was checking signal strength with dtvsignal before setting something to record, and thereby tuning the card manually. Turned out it was only recording the last channel I'd checked via dtvsignal. I posted to mythtv-users and only reply I got was someone who got it working after patching the 2.0 drivers... which is when I made the dumb move of installing them.
