Hi,

I am currently running a Myth box, but I have several problem with my hardaware and now it become very unstable. I love the features so I would like to give another try with new hardware. I would like to get some suggestion for 'out-of-the box' hardware, especially for these components:

Motherboard:
- What is the best supported chipset, onboard lan, etc ?
- Considering: MSI 845PE MAX SOCKET 478

TV-Tuner
- Considering: Hauppauge PVR-250
- Is the Model 401 is well supported ?
- I've seen that the black remote (Model 401) is supported?
- Any other Hauppauge model with remote?

Case:
- I want a quiet case, but I've not seen any GOOD review proposing different models. However, I am now considering the ANTEC Sonata, i've heard good comments about it. Any suggestion ?

Thank you for your suggestion

By the way, my current motherboard is the Asus P4R800-VM. I would NOT suggest it to build a myth box since it is a very recent board and it is not well supported by linux kernel yet.

I've been completely happy with my setup. I have it in my family room hooked up to my 61' rear projection and it works great.

Not sure if you are looking for something like this or have the $$ for it all, but I can vouch that it takes about 45 minutes to setup with this hardware. My big problem when I first started was that I knew I wanted this setup to work and be in a SFF case. I wasn't sure which exact pieces I needed, but I didn't want to buy stuff and find out later that this piece or that piece didn't work good. I already had this same Shuttle as my main rig, so I tried it out on that using my friend's PVR-350. After a BIOS update, I'd have to say I'm pretty happy with it. It looks nice, works completely with the included remote.

Anyway, if you are interested, here is a parts list that I can vouch for that I use:

I have been very happy with my setup. Aside from needing to load a binary-only video driver for the SVIDEO output, everything works out of the box. It looks very cool and, best of all, is nearly silent.

ASUS Pundit Case
PVR 250
200 GB Seagate HDD
DVDRW
256 MB RAM (I'd get 512 MB if I could do over)
Celeron 2.4 GHz Processor
SMC USB Wireless Adapter

Total price was $566.
