I have a working R5B7 box which I use as both the FE and BE. I want to put another frontend in the family room. I have read the wiki on how to do the frontend and it list some configuration changes that I have to make on my FE/BE machine. Will this break the frontend on the backend machine?

Short answer: No

Longer answer: You can have many front ends and they have no effect on each other other than normal performance issues if they are all running at once. (Example: watching hd content on 10 different frontends at once...that might be a bit much for a 100mb network and a single disk on the backend)
