Believe me... I've looked in the forums for 3+ hours. Not just knoppmyth but other mythtv forums as well.

The last thing I want to do is post a question, but I seriously can't find anything.

Any help would be appreciated.

Did you try hitting "0"? for some reason the default message seems to be "No Jobs... " Hitting "0" on my remote brought me to the dvd ripping section. I believe i may have also installed decss while I was having that problem, but I'm not sure if that had anything to do with it or not.

This problem comes up after I start mtd by pressing '0'. And decss has already been installed.

Can anyone point me in the direction of some logs? Or how to enable logging for this particular feature?

has anyone come up with a solution for this? I have been looking for a few days now and cant find any help at all... I tried all suggestions in the previous posts but nothing works... every time i go into Import DVD it just sits there and says No Jobs. Checking and/or waiting for DVD.

I pressed 0 and nothing happens... it just sits there... I have tried several DVD's and they all do the same thing... i can play DVD's without a problem.

As chrisj said run
Code:
mtd -d

You may get output liek this:

root@mythtv:/etc# mtd -d

root@mythtv:/etc# 2006-06-12 15:53:30.210 Using runtime prefix = /usr
2006-06-12 15:53:30.222 New DB connection, total: 1
2006-06-12 15:53:30.224 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost
2006-06-12 15:53:30.226 Inserting MythDVD initial database information.
2006-06-12 15:53:30.228 New DB connection, total: 2
2006-06-12 15:53:30.228 Connected to database 'mythconverg' at host: localhost
2006-06-12 15:53:30.229 Upgrading to MythDVD schema version 1001
MTDLogger.o: You do not have a DVD rip directory set. Run Setup.

I had the same problem on my new R5C7 install but then I changed the DVD and VCD mount points to /dev/cdrom (or /dev/dvd should work too) and uncommented the dvd device from /etc/auto.mnt. I also disabled the Monitor CD/DVD option. Now my first DVD is being imported OK. Oh, atm my mtd daemon has been started as root...

Excellent!!!

That worked great. The one part I hadn't gotten was running mtd as root.

Thanks for the help everybody.

There is no need to start MTD as root. No that security is big concern with KnoppMyth (you have it behind a firewall right?), but starting something as root that doesn't need to be is bad practise. For performance reason, MythTV wasn't designed with security in mind folks....

I have this problem as well but I can't seem to solve it
I can play dvd's fine

I have mtd -d running as mythtv have also tried root
disabled the Monitor CD/DVD option

phlux0r can you provide some clarification as to what you did
"I changed the DVD and VCD mount points to /dev/cdrom"

also
"uncommented the dvd device from /etc/auto.mnt"
did you delete a # or put a #
could you post your working auto.mnt

thanks

Those are in the Utilities/Setup > Setup > Media Settings > DVD Settings > General Settings

well i just commented out the line that starts with cdrom:

Code:
# Knoppix automounter file for Directory /mnt/auto
# umask=000 only works for msdos/vfat floppies, but otherwise the floppy is read-only.
floppy  -fstype=auto,user,exec,umask=000        :/dev/fd0
#cdrom   -fstype=auto,user,exec,ro       :/dev/cdrom
# The following entries (if any) are auto-generated by knoppix-autoconfig

I did only what I described in that post of mine. I don't really use that DVD import anyway, just was curious to see it working and when it did, I didn't worry about it any more.

All I can suggest is backtrace your steps and do things again one by one making sure you try out various combinations of things.

So I got this working by using /dev/hdb instead of /dev/cdrom

ls -l /dev/cdrom
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root cdrom 8 Aug 7 11:51 /dev/cdrom -> /dev/hdb

not sure why using the link doesn't work

chmod 777 /dev/hdd

At least gets me to be able to start the job, but it's still failing after a few minutes.
