Looks like someone is bringing out a PCIe card that can capture HDMI up to 1080p.. I doubt it can capture HDCP content but otherwise this is probably good news for mythtv users who want hdtv from satellite, right?

It'd be wonderful if this thing worked like everyone expected it to, but from their press release on the website, it doesn't seem like it will.

They say it takes uncompressed video from camcorders and dtv boxes as input and can take 2 at once to do live mixing without a genlocked camera. I'm sure it's great for editing and mixing but I have my doubts about whether or not you can just drop one in an open PCI Express slot and start recording cable box and satellite box streams. If they DO work, man, I'm first in line for that and I have a few clients lined up that need one also.

Then again there's the whole issue of linux drivers for it. I guess I'll just pray until Oct. 15th.
