Can't figure out why this appears to be working, but no light blinking:

root@mythtv:/usr/local/bin# change_channel 200
channel changing 200

1. The change_channel script is unchanged from the instructions, and is in /usr/local/bin
2. I think my lircd.conf file (below) is correct and permissions wide open

root@mythtv:/etc# ls -alt lircd.conf
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 20 Jan 13 14:39 lircd.conf -> /etc/lirc/lircd.conf

3. The send_power_new makes the light blink

I can't seem to find the file you talk about in my R5E50 system. The one I use is
Code:
/usr/local/bin/change-channel-lirc.sh

You may need to create your own and I think you can find the code in the same post in this forum where you found the send_power_new file.

Now I can't get the light to blink after sending the SEND_POWER_NEW script. This use to work. I know irw works still (can see commands from remote)

root@mythtv:/etc/lirc# send_power_new
(removed most of the output)
irsend: command failed: SEND_ONCE blaster 1_661_KEY_POWER
irsend: unknown command: "1_661_KEY_POWER"
irsend: command failed: SEND_ONCE blaster 1_662_KEY_POWER
irsend: unknown command: "1_662_KEY_POWER"

I tried restarting lircd with same result.

root@mythtv:/etc/lirc# /etc/init.d/lirc restart
Stopping lirc daemon: lircmd lircd.
Starting lirc daemon: lircd.

To use your example, if the send_power_new script doesn't find an entry for 1_661_KEY_POWER in the lircd.conf script then you'll get that error. If you've already removed all the code for other set top boxes and edited your set top boxes section by removing the *_*_KEY_ then the send_power_new script won't work. The send_power_new script is only used to figure out which codes match up with your set top box. Once you've figured that out you don't need the script any more.
