I'm having a problem with a network share point. I have to set the permissions of a folder on my backend to 777 in order for my frontend to be able to write to it.

I have a feeling that I am missing something in my /etc/exports folder to allow the mythtv user to be seen as the same on both machines?

If they're both Unix-ish machines having the UIDs match is key. Using webmin makes it easier to poke at and adjust security levels, but the way it determines user identity is by UID.

BTW - The Webmin path for this is https://YOUR-HOST-NAME-OR-IP:10000/exports/ then click on the IP addrs.

Thanks for the help tjc.

Nothing is jumping out at me on that screen as being what I need to change. I have a screenshot of my configuration here:

Can you tell me what I need to change? Thanks!

BTW, this new webmin is 20 times better than the version in R5D1...

I would use sys and a subnet (e.g. IPV4 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0) rather than everyone or hosts "*", and check trust remote users other than root. It's a bit loose but it should be better than the current settings.
