Hey guys..

I tried searching for this, but there are SOO many results for "recording" and "priority" that I couldn't seem to find my answer.

There is a show I wish to record.. but I've missed several episodes of it already.. so I've set it to "Record at any time on any channel."

However.. I'd prefer if it recorded the episode of the show that is on one of the HD channels.

I realize that there is an option to set a higher priority to shows flagged with "HD" .. but from what I've seen (and in this case for sure) the "HD" flag is often missing.

My question is.. Under settings - MythTV channel info - there is an option to set "recpriority"

Is this the answer to my problems? They are currently all set to ZERO. If I set all of my HD channels to ONE will it pick the HD channel over the SD channel in the case that a show I haven't recorded yet is on both?

Sorry for being so long-winded. Thanks so much.

d.

I don't use the TV recording facilities much, but when you set the recording, under "Scheduling Options" you can set a preferred input (in this case your HD tuner, defaults to "Use any available input").

Is this what you had in mind?

Actually.. both of my tuners are HD capable.. So, I'm not really sure this is the solution.

Interesting though.

I don't have HD available at this time, although I have HD being sent in a couple of SD feeds. Neat squashed effect.
I do know however I have set specific channels as higher precedent than others.

What I mean is this, say I have a show and it is on one of the feeds that is HD (PBS is one that comes to mind) in an SD wrapper and I also have the feed normally SD in an SD shell("Local" PBS)

Well I have set the SD channel higher than the one that feeds a boxed HD in an SD wrapper.
It will always try to pick my preferred feed, the one that is higher. Unless there is a higher prioroty show looking for the same type of feed.

I would imagine it would work in reverse like you want. Pick the HD feed first because it is set to a higher precedent than a normal feed.

I seem to remember I did the channel settings in the Channel Priority screen

Thanks! I'm pretty sure this is the confirmation I was looking for! I'll give this a go!
