Hi Y'all,

Got my disk-less front end up and running very nicely via the wiki. But just a couple of fairly minor stuff not perfect...

When I go to my Video Gallery listing, all I see is a big "Unknown Prefix" icon. I select that and then I see a "Myth" icon and from there I can get to 'video' & my list of videos. Needless to say I would like to see my list of videos w/o the directory navigation. I assume the magic setting I am looking for is under:

Videos Settings -> General Settings

"Directory that Holds Videos" (currently set to "/share/Movies/dvd")
"Directory that Holds Movie Posters" (currently set to "/home/mythtv/.mythtv/MythVideo")

I flipped them to be the same as what is in my MBE (/myth/videos) but that didn't work. Any suggestions?

I'm sure this is an easy q for most but I'm new to linux.

Thanks,

Paul

Since you can navigate to the videos in question, check the output of ls -lR /share/Movies/dvd | more and set your "Directory that Holds Videos" to the directory that actually holds the videos.

I don't have a /share directory. But I ran the cmd above for fun just in case the "IR" did something magical but all I got was
Quote:
ls: /share/Movies/dvd: No such file or directory

The help on the myth setup screen says "this directory must exist" but obviously it doesn't so I'm surprised I'm even able to nav to the videos. Also, I am obviously going to a "myth/video" directory somewhere but it is certainly not "/myth/video" as this directory (on the FE) is empty, somehow I am browsing the directory on the MBE. Also, /mnt is empty, in case that's impt.

Any other thoughts?

Thanks,

Howdy,

The reason you are able to navigate to the files atm is probably because it's getting the listing from the backend DB, where the files are in the right place. I'd take a guess and say that if you ran a scan for new videos on the frontend you wouldn't be able to see them anymore.

Since you're running diskless have you exported the /myth directory on the backend via nfs in /etc/exports?

If yes, have you mounted it on the frontend during bootup?

On your frontend /etc/fstab;

192.168.0.3:/myth /myth nfs defaults,auto,noatime 0 0

Regards,
Kirk.

Missed this point entirely when I first read it, sorry. As Kirk pointed out make sure you are mounting the /myth directory on your frontend. This should have been taken care of by the knoppmyth_diskless_frontend.bash script.

Ack, sorry guys, I entered "/myth/videos" instead of "/myth/video", I'm a plonker.

Still, this edit wasn't mentioned in the wiki so I'll add it.
