Sorry if this has been asked before, and for the life of me I can't find any threads matching my issue.

My current system has 2 pvr150's and it records fine. But I want to add a 3rd tuner, another pvr150, and when I do, it turns out that the recordings now have really bad video quality. When I remove the 3rd card, recordings go back to good quality.

It is the recordings on all the tuners, or just the new one?

Bad cable or crappy connectors perhaps?

Splitting the signal too many ways is another possibility.

Sorry, forgot about those details. I'm running the cable through a 4-way splitter/amplifier, and signal is good. The bad video shows up on all tuner cards only when the 3rd on is installed. I've swapped the connectors around with no improvement or changes. Is there some setting in the software that I'm missing?

Check your recording profiles for the settings that determine the bit rates of new recordings. The defaults are usually a bit low.

I've also had issues with a cable modem causing noise on the analog TV side. Especially when using a splitter/amplifier. I use a high-pass filter inline with my PVR150 to reduce interference.

What happens if you leave all three tuners installed but do not connect the coax to the third tuner. If the first two tuners show a good picture then you can be sure that it is a signal problem.

Is is possible that the third card is IRQ-sharing with another card?

I'd second the IRQ issue. Do you have any open slots? Might want to try and move the third card to another slot if you have one available.

A couple of questions and tips.

1) You are using a 4-way splitter with 3 cards. Did you use a 2-way splitter previously before adding the 3rd card? Have you fitted a resistor to the 4th output of the current splitter? An open circuit on a splitter port can induce signal reflection which will have a big impact on the signal.

2) Ensure the additional cable is of high quality as this could impact on the signal as well.

3) I assume you are using an amplifer with the 4 way splitter. Can you advise which type? ie. is it a all-in-one splitter/amplifier or a separate splitter and amplifier.

4) Try a different slot for the card as suggested previously.

Turns out that moving the card to another slot worked.

My setup is the cable from the wall to the 4-way splitter/amp (1 unit). 1 of 4 outputs go to a vcr, the other 3 go the the three tuners.
