I have followed the directions here and I can get the remote buttons to work but nothing happens in MythTV except for the standard buttons, eg. Enter, Numbers.

When I run irw and I press a button the corrosponding command appears, but as I said before nothing happens in MythTV. I have attempted to add the command name into the key mappings for MythTV, but this did not work.

Now that I the remote configured, could anyone suggest how I can get the buttons to work in MythTV.

Thanks.

Hi,

There are two parts to the remote stuff. What you see with irw has to match what is in /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

Between some flavors the is a difference in the caps / non cap entries.
example in my lircrc is:
#Jumppoint for Live TV created in Mythweb
begin
prog = mythtv
button = TV
repeat = 3
config = Shift+F1
end

so in order for it work, in irw when I press the tv button it needs to show TV, not Tv, or tv and that holds for all the button labels. The numbers are always the same (unisex) so have the tendency to work.

After any changes, I restart the xserver so the config files are re-read.

See this posting on Understanding LIRC configuration, it should answer a lot of questions.
