Hi folks, first of all, greate forum!

For a while ive been thinking of setting up a HTPC.
The thing is that the TV-signals i get to my home is what you call Multicast IPTV.
I can watch these TV channles on my computer using VLC, and eatch channle would have a ip-address looking like this: udp://@address : port
The good thing about the IPTV is that I get digitall image right from its source.
The bad thing is that there is almost no software supporting this.
I read about the "FreeBox" support in MythTV 0.20 and the way this may be my solution.

My question to you would be: is there a version of KnoppMyth that may have what i need?

I would be grateful for all help ;)

It sounds like you are using HDHomeRun. It uses the same technology. You have to CREATE your own listing manually in some sort of configuration. It also sounds like you might be using Uverse. In either way, you need to create some sort of channel config file. There are instructions for HDHomeRun, but I'm sure the instructions are similar for Uverse. In fact, I'm thinking of using Uverse.

Let me know what video source you are using.

There is no KnoppMyth configuration involved. You can configure MythTV to do what you want. Programming information will be lacking however. If you've not figured it out in a few, ping me (I have too much on my plate at the moment)...

So, you are able to get channels from AT&T uVerse with VLC??

Can you please list detail instructions? If that is the case, then it should be easy to do with MythTV. Another question: Can you get HD channels?

If you answer yes to both then I'm switching right away!

Note: I have the HDHomeRun and with enough tinkering I was able to get a lot of Comcast un-encrypted channels (about 95% of what we watch), then a little over a week ago Comcast decides to encrypt more regular channels (including SciFi and design shows) and now I'm in trouble with the wife. It took me a while to create my own lineup with XMLTVIDs, but it worked great with Schedules direct. So, now I'm looking to crap on Comcast.

Grrrr, I wish there was an individual I could yell at, but that's what you get with big corporations. They water on the little guys, and completely ignore its customers.

Comcast probably started encrypting more of the regulars probably because they got the HD feed for that channel going (I know Dish rolled out Scifi-HD not too long before I switched to U-verse)

According to the uverseusers forum AT&T encrypts their IPTV streams. The Cisco set top boxes they hand out run Windows CE and M$ holds the enrcyption keys.

I haven't tried searching for unencrypted streams yet but may give it a shot (aren't the local broadcast stations supposed to stay unencrypted by law?)
