I have installed r4v5 with a pvr-350 using the knoppwiki instructions with no problems. I have also installed an ATI wonder ve card seperatly with no problem. Then I tried both at the same time, and then the trouble began. When I detect the input card, the only option for the 350 during setup is "television or composite1", same options when the wonder ve was by installed by itself. When the 350 worked by itself it had the options of composite, tuner, svideo. I tried changing card and tuner options in the bttv file, with no luck. When I tried to view tv, it just goes to a blank screen and I cannot change tuners or esc out. Any idea on how to get the two to work in one box? I have even tried to just define the 350 as the only input, but still no luck.
Thanks

This doesn't belong here. Did you read the description of the Tier 2 topic before you posted? Tier 1 and Tier 2 are for descriptions of working systems and what you did to make them work, not "how do I make X work with Y" type questions.
- You didn't describe your hardware motherboard, CPU, case, optical and hard drives, tuner and video cards, sound card, ...
- If you did an "out of the box everything installed and I didn't have to do anything sepcial" install that's Tier 1 not Tier 2. Otherwise, along with a detailed description of your hardware, you should tell what extra steps you did or links to the supplemental instructions followed.
If you're lucky, Cesman will move this to another foum rather than deleteing it as off topic.
BTW - You question could probably be expressed far more clearly as well. As it stands it's so muddled it makes my head hurt.
PS - I'm not trying to nasty or even harsh. Just trying to get the point across as clearly as possible.

Well, I have a Chaintech 7nif2 mb, 512 ddr ram, cdrw drive, amd barton 2600+.
I did a fresh install of knoppmyth r4v5 with a ATI wonder ve card. Everything worked fine out to the monitor.
I took out the ATI and replaced it with a pvr-350 using a fresh install of knoppmyth r4v5 following the directions here http://knoppmythwiki.homelinux.org/inde ... stallation
Everything worked fine out to the monitor and tv.
I then added the ATI card to this box and when I went to configure in setup the option for ATI and 350 only had input source listed as Television or Composite1. When the 350 was installed alone, the Tuner0 option was available, but now is gone. I had completed a fresh install with both cards in the box from the outset and still the same problem. When I try to view tv from the monitor, I just get a black screen and can't get back to the menu by hitting the esc key. I changed the /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv configuration to options bttv card=64 tuner=2, but this did not help.

This is a much clearer description that even MY poor tired brain can grok.
Quote: only had input source listed as Television or Composite1
OK, so it sounds like it's giving the bttv card precedence. Where are you seeing this under mythtv-setup?
- Under Button 2 "capture cards"?
Under "capture cards" do you have two different types of cards defined? one bttv and one mpeg?
- Under Button 3 "input connections?"
Do you see entries for both mpeg and bttv?

my system always detects my bttv card first as well, so when I'm setting up my cards I scroll on over to /dev/video1 and set it up first as mpeg2 with the tuner0 then I setup /dev/video(video0) as v4l with television that way the pvr card gets used first.

Thanks for the responses.
I see this under 'Capture Cards' -second bubble. The only problem is once I have both cards installed, the only options I get now are "television" or "composite1". This occurs even when I setup the mpeg2 first. When I install the 350 in the box w/o the ATI, I can choose between composite, tuner and svideo options. I’ll shut down, install the ATI and come up to the mythtv-setup, already having the 350 card in the box, add the ATI in the capture cards , then go back and look at the 350 settings and they will have changed to only television or composite again.

you keep saying the only options you have are, but under which video device? like I said I have to scroll the video device over to /dev/video1 before the tuner0 option shows up. /dev/video and /dev/video0 both show only the television option and actually those two are the same as video is a link to video0

When I installed both and cleared capture cards, all options video video0 video1 etc all only displayed the television and composite options. I installed the 350, and set options to tuner0, then installed the ATI and installed as television without clearing the capture card options and that seems to work. I now have both cards listed as tuners in the mythtv program, but the ATI is not capturing video. This solves my problem, as to not being able to have the two cards installed. Now I'll go searching the forum for the correct BTTV settings to get input for the card. Thanks for your help getting past my biggest problem.

I changed the bttv settings to
alias char-major-81 bttv
options bttv card=64 autoload=0 radio=0
post-install bttv insmod tuner type=2
and now both cards work. The mpg4 recordings are very slow output on the 350 card, but I'm content that I got them both working.
Thanks
