IF the ivtv guys get the new PVR-150 figured out before R5 gets released (I realize its already in alpha), will support be included?

For those who haven't heard about it yet, the PVR-150 is basically a single-chip PVR-250 with a 10-bit encoder instead of a 9-bit, and its pretty inexpensive compared to the 250...

If ivtv ever realeases a stable version im sure it will be included. Even if its not.. its only a 500k download away. R5 quesitons have not been apreciated as of late, so i would stay away from them. It also seems as though the 150 will not be supported by ivtv, at least thats what im hearing.

This has been discussed in the last few weeks. Search the foum for PVR-150. The reports I've heard say that it's not a real PVR-250/350 family member that will work with the ivtv driver. It's one of the dreaded "Roslyn Blackbird" cards which requires an entirely different driver.

Yeah, I've read a bit about the Blackbird reference design. In the IVTV forums, it seems that some of the developers have the 150 working with video, and are in the process of snooping the i2c bus to figure out how to get the audio working...they may be close!

I've seen this card for as little at $59 somewhere online (no rebates, either). I'm keeping my fingers crossed...

while the 150 is interesting for being cheap the 500 is even more so since it has two tuners on one card, that means recording two shows or recording one and watching live tv with just one card and only using one pci slot, alas it uses the same chipset as the 150, but that hopefully means if they get the 150 working 500 support is not far behind.

Myth should support any driver that supports the standard v4l or v4l2 API. http://linux.bytesex.org/v4l2/drivers.html

Since KnoppMyth is a whole system distro it may take a while for it to catch up to the "latest" drivers, but you can always compile them in yourself as many people here do with the IVTV, ALSA, Nvidia, and other drivers.

Hey, I was looking into the cx88 drivers, but I have yet to see a definitive answer as to whether or not they support the 150. What chip does it use? Does audio work properly?

I might have to get one to augment my 250MCE.

To the best of my knowledge it is currently unsupported.

The IvyTV developers are working on getting the 150 working. When R5 is released, it will include the latest stable release of IvyTV (or one that has been tested extensively). When IvyTV does support the 150, MythTV support should not get far behind, if not automatic.
