I finally got my old old PCI RAGE II (Mach64) with TV out to display on the TV. However, though xdpyinfo shows that XVideo is enabled, it won't play DVDs because of the apparent lack of XVideo.

I'm using ogle so I can get menus. If I use mplayer I can set the -vo switch to X11 and it works, ok...

I am willing to install xine, if that would work, but I want to investigate all the options before I use that --force-overwrite switch...

Am I just asking too much of this old card? I think it only has 2 MB (remember those days?). It's the only TV out card I had laying around for now. Or has someone else got an old card like this to do everything?

Thanks.

are you trying to display on a monitor and a tv? cause I know in the nvidia world only one display has Xv, so even though it would tell you yes Xv is enabled, that would only be for the monitor not for the TVout, however as soon as you boot up with the TV as the only display Xv switches to the TV. Not sure how the rage driver works, nor if you have a monitor hooked up, but something to look at.

I just have TV out physically hooked up. I wonder if the XVideo extension is bound to the VGA out somehow? How would I disable that? I know with atitvout you can specify, but I think they're two very different projects.

Yeah it seems the card is weak. I switched to 640x480 and it works now... pity because I need 800x600 for nuv2disc...
