Has anyone actually gotten the GATOS drivers working with KnoppMyth? I have an ATI All-in-Wonder 128 that I would like to use the TV-out feature on. I can only get TV-out working with the VESA driver but then since there is no XV support, the video playback is choppy.

From everything I have been able to find, the only option to get XV support with TV-out is using the GATOS drivers.

I don't want to switch to an nVidia card as all of the TV-out I have seen from nVidia cards is significantly lower in quality than from the ATI cards.

Thanks,

David

I haven't heard of anyone on this forum being successful with gatos, but I'm sure someone somewhere has. In my opinion working nvidia tvout is better than nonworking ati tvout regardless of the quality, and I don't really concider my quality to be that bad, but then again I'm not one of those people who watches tv with a magnifying glass either.

Hi,

i have a ati rage mobility in my laptop, which serves as a front end. I was tinkering with the gatos as well and got tv out working, but i had problems with the comandprompt and sometimes with x11. The screen just got distorted and the only way to fix it was rebooting.

I recently changed over to the dri package from retinal burn (http://www.retinalburn.net/linux/dri_xv.html) and since then tv out works without any problems. Except when opening the laptop while having it on tv, this sometimes ends with a stretched tv out picture.

Greats
Kevin
