Has anyone figured out how to redirect the sound out from a pvr350 to the soundcard output without using a patch cable? I'm trying to rid my system of as many cables as possible and especially 1/8" cables which can get accidentally pulled wrong and break soundcards. (It's happened at least twice.)

I can't think of any reason why it wouldn't be possible. I checked out a lot of the posts about S/PDIF output but it's unclear if those are still using a patch cable and I couldn't adapt that info to my needs.

Anyone could please help on this one ?
My set top box PC does not have an external line in.

Does anyone know which one of the PVR 350 pins are the line out (to connect it to the internal line in) or does anyone know how to pump the pvr350 sound to the on board sound chip ?

you can use the mic port on the onboard sound if it does not have a line in.

I ended up giving up on the 350 as an output. TV looked great but dvds weren't quite satisfactory and there was that whole patch cable issue. (I'm using a vga to component video adapter now and I'm much happier.)

There is something I came very close to doing but I'm not 100% sure it will work and it's a little risky. So if you try this and break anything, I don't wanna hear about it.

You can try taking a cd audio cable, and soldering one end to the back of the 350. Plug the other end into the motherboard's cd audio input and turn it up with alsamixer. I'd think that would do it. Of course you won't have cd audio anymore unless you do a little more rigging.

Like I said, if you break it, I don't wanna hear about it. Good luck.

BTW, I also played with the white connector on the 350 but I couldn't get any sound out of it. Don't get tempted to plug the cd audio cable into that connector. Even tho it fits, it won't work and I'm sure it will cook something important.
