I have an avermedia ultra 300 (got it from newegg), and it seems to have a problem tuning to the right channel. When I first hooked it up the sound had a buzz in the background, and poor picture quality. Since then I’ve updated my bttv driver, checked the settings for the tuner frequencies (US-cable), and also gone through the mythtv-setup many times. After having a minor hard drive problem (an IDE cable was loose) it now is totally off on the frequencies. The guide says that I’m one channel above the channel I’m on, and the picture has become black and white with very poor audio quality. I really don’t want to have to resort to reinstalling Knoppmyth, but if that’s what has to happen then I guess I’ll do it. If anyone knows what could be going on the help would be greatly appreciated.

My Specs:
AMD Sempron 2100+
Chaintech 7NIF2
256 MB pc2100 ram
Maxtor 160 GB hard-drive
Avermedia Ultra 300

So I finally caved in and reinstalled, but the audio quality is poor. There is a high pitched squeal that is a product of the tuner. I placed an ipod on the patch cable from the tuner card and the sound was clear, so it’s defiantly the card. I've checked around the forums and I can’t seem to find a working solution. Any ideas?

Can I ask - did you re-install all knoppmyth or just the bttv driver.

I'm having the same poor quality with the picture and the channel freq. Although after one reboot trying to tweak the capture card the channels were correct, but have since returned to one channel off.

I am having the same problem with a wintv go card I think. Using MIC instead of Line in seems to help a little. I've tweaked alsa mixer a dozen ways and still get static on most of the channels.

Any success for you yet?

AMD 1700
7NIF2
Wintv Go
