Trying to build up an R5A12 box for my father in law. I've run in to either a bad mobo or a bad CPU so it will have to wait until tomorow. However, I did want to pass on an interesting discovery.

I couldn't find a PVR 250 anywhere in town, but I did find a 150. So I decided to buy it, take the plunge, follow the hints in here and give it a shot.

When I opened the package to do the install, much to my pleasant surprise, I discovered there was a manual referring to an IR Blaster. Then I looked at the IR receiver and noticed it was a siamese cable and it appeared to have a sending unit? Oh ho ho, what is this I said?

Looks like th enew 150 cards, in addition to the larger remote with more buttons, also have an IR blaster to control your cable box. Very cool.

Is this supported on Linux yet? Anyone else know anything about this little goody?

I have one too.

I asked the same question here about a month ago and got no reply. From what I could dig up, nobody is working on support for it yet (want to volunteer?).

Anyway, I just built the homebrew IR blaster from parts that cost less than $5 at radioshack. It works great.

I would if I was skilled in that area, but I'm afraid that doing detailed configs for the remote control is about as far as my technical skills go. That and helping friends get sorted on new installs. A coder I am not.

However, I did get a buddy to build me a serial sender like you mentioned and I managed to get it working with my .14 system. I'd just love the simplicity of having the PVR-150 included...
