I was running whatever knoppmyth distribution that had .16, and eventually go it up and running. Now, i have a new problem. When I watch livetv or a recorded show, the CPU goes nuts! I still don't have sound, but that's another story, but wanted to mention it incase it's related.

It was working fairly well under .16, but with .18 (R5A15), the cpu load is just really high.

Code:
 5674 mythtv    15   0  139m  39m  27m S 31.6  9.1   1:23.89 mythfrontend
 5604 root      16   0  112m  30m  12m R 28.2  7.1   1:48.79 XFree86

I dont exactly know what the CPU load was before, but it wasn't that high. The CPU fan would be on low, so i know the CPU load was pretty low. Now the CPU fan runs like crazy. I checked "top", and fond that mythfrontend is using about 31.6% of the CPU, white XFree86 was using 28.2% of the cpu. I still have 84megs of ram free.

I disabled the commercial skipping and searching. Whate else to try? Where to look? I tried IVTV both on and off.

Specs:
AMD 2500+, 512meg ram, 160GB hd, PVR-250. I don't remember the brand of motherboard, but the graphics are onboard. I think it's an nvidia chip.

What logs should I post? dmesg? Xfreee86? What other information is needed to help?

Thanks for the help. I'm usually good with searching, but can't seem to find this matter covered.

If your graphic chipset is nvidia, have you installed the nvidia drivers?
