Reviewing the post I realized that I didn't mention I also updated UDEV (via synaptic using the most updated version available).
I don't know if this was the origin of your problems though.

Anyway, once the new 5A14 is out my post will be useless (assuming it isn't already...). I will probably update myself.

Thanks Benotto, I'll have a go and see if this helps.

I'm pleased the new release will contain 2.6.11, I can hardly wait.

Our days of trouble are over!
The avertv dvb-t 771 with 5A15.1 works with minimum effort!
You just need to follow the indication given in the announcement ( http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4374 ) regarding the pcHDTV 2000 and the 771 works!!!

Ah...

A slight amendment to Cecils post =>

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4374

To set up your AverMedia 771 DVB-T card (and maybe others), when mythtv-setup starts, to switch to a console screen with <CTRL><ALT><F1> , log in as root, and type -

Code:
modprobe dvb-bt8xx
echo dvb-bt8xx >> /etc/modules

Now <ALT><7> back to the mythtv-setup screen and your DVB card should be visible :)

PS. The slight amend was the 8 in the bt8xx, the btxx just give me a fatal error...

Yes, the remote works, though there are some issues with it that I wouldn't mind sorting out... See here: http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... highlight=

I did that modprobe command the first time this install booted up, I assume you don't need to do it each subsequent boot as it seems to have no effect, anyway once done, which card do you choose when adding a new card as I chose the new one that appeared the dv card and it seems to say that card 0 is locked or in use and can't find a card on other ports?
I tried the v4l standard card and that doesn't work either.

all dvb cards get locked when mythbackend is running. you need to stop mythbackend

/etc/init.d/mythtv-backend stop (this command has to be run as root)

before you run mythtv-setup otherwise it will tell you the dvb card is locked. this applies to any dvb card including the pchdtv3000's and the air2pc. basically anything using a dvb driver.

I haven't tested it, but you can configure it (mythtv-setup -> Capture Card Setup -> Select Card -> Advanced -> Recording Options -> Open DVB card on demand) so that they are only locked when recording or watching Live TV.

Of course, you need to restart the backend for this change to take effect :(

Now the card is detected from myth, but its detected as Zarlink MT352 DVB-T

And when i scan the channels myth says: "error tuning to transport"

The frontend (tuner) in most current cards is the Samsung MT352. I think Zarlink is the name on one chip in that tuner. Setup is identifying that card correctly.

Failed to scan transport usually means that your signal is too weak.

hmm, but under Win2k i have nearly 100% signal strength and a perfect picture with the Avermedia software.

When i scan the channels the popup says 100% signal, but 0% on the other bars (i forgot the names).

Stupid question, must i enter the frequency and the other things in mythtv manually?
