Now that I have finally fixed my sound problem, I am only get sound out of my centre speaker.

I just went and checked again and found that I am getting sound out of my surround speakers as well, but it sounds like a copy of the current centre channel.

I am using my Audigy with analog 5.1 outputs and R5A15.1

When I watch DVD that is 5.1 and I have added -channels 6 in the command line for mplayer, I get sound out of my centre (no voices) and some out of my surround speakers.

When I watch TV all the sounds come out of the centre speaker and as I said earlier a copy out of the surround speakers.

I don't have a asound.rc file as listed in most doco I read, but WTF do you put in it.

I have a Sound Blaster Audigy which Alsa mixer reports the chipset as:
TriTech TR28602 and I am using the analog outs for 5.1

Please help!

This is really, really, really frustrating to the point you would not believe.

I have been playing with the plugs out the back of the computer and for some stupid reason I have audio out of my front speakers now. But it seems like mono.

Anyone else have a SB Live 5.1 or Audigy of some kind that they know works with the mulitple analog outs?

Once I did get the sound out off all the speakers I tried a 5.1 DVD, with the option -channels 6 with MPlayer and I didn't get any centre channel, I seemed to get lots of effects, but no voices. So it is splitting the signal, just got to know where it is going.

I can now get the voice out of the centre channel and front speakers when I add alsa to the commandline for mplayer.

I might try xine see if that makes any difference.

Anyone know how I can change the way the TV sound works, i.e. I can change the command line for mplayer for DVDs, but where do you do a similar thing for watching TV?
