Is anyone else running an HD2000 under the new DVB drivers? I'm having a lot of difficulty getting stability with 15.1. Here's the process I've gone through, and the issues I'm experiencing. I'd appreciate any postings...even just to say that you have and HD2000 working under 15.1.

My Install process:

1) Auto Install normally
2) When X starts and login comes up, ctrl-alt-f1
3) Login as root, load DVB drivers:
Code:
modprobe dvb-bt8xx

4) modify modules so this happens at each boot
Code:
echo dvb-bt8xx >> /etc/modules

5) exit, ctrl-alt-f7 to get back to X
6) enter password and configure network
7) When mythtv-setup comes up, hit yes twice to clean things up, then:
Code:
      1) General
         Hit Next twice, on third page (Global Backend Setup)
            change TV format to ATSC
            change "Channel Frequency table:" to us-bcast
         Hit Next unitl back to menu
      2) Capture cards
         Hit "New capture card"
         Card Type = Digital Video Broadcast card (DVB)
         "Oren OR51211 VSB Frontend" should pop up under "Card Name"
         Hit Finish, esc to main menu
      3) Video sources
         Hit "New video source"
         Video source name (up to you, I use "HDTV")
         XMLTV = Datadirect, enter your name and password
         Hit "retrieve lineup", you should now see your linup listed under data direct linup
         hit "finish", esc to main menu
      4) Input connections
         hit top one (DVBInput)
         Video source = "HDTV" or whatever you entered in step (3)
         Starting channel = known good Digital station (e.g. 201)
         hit "finish", esc to main menu
      5) Channel Editor
         Hit "Scan For Channels"
         Hit Next until it scans, this will take a while
         when done Hit Finish, then Esc to main menu
         Esc again to leave this utility, Myth will now download TV data for first time
         Myth will then start mythfrontend

At this point I have been able to go to mythweb and manually record a show. It appears to have only recorded 1 minute out of my specified 5 minute recording period, and there was no sound on playback of the recording. After this, I was not able to record another show at all, even after rebooting.

Even during my successful recording, I got a lot of messages like this:

Code:
QSettings: error creating /root/.qt
QSettings::sync: filename is null/empty
2005-05-04 23:47:57.744 MainServer::HandleAnnounce FileTransfer
2005-05-04 23:47:57.746 adding: xxxx.xxxx.com as a remote file transfer

2005-05-04 23:48:59.393 adding: xxxx.xxxx.com as a client (events: 0)
2005-05-04 23:48:59.467 MainServer::HandleAnnounce Playback
2005-05-04 23:48:59.489 adding: xxxx.xxxx.com as a client (events: 1)
2005-05-04 23:49:08.326 DVB#0 WARNING - No data from card in 1 second.
2005-05-04 23:49:09.335 DVB#0 WARNING - No data from card in 1 second.

Any suggestions/thoughts are appreciated.

how fast is your proc?
is dma turned on?
did you set the start channel to a known good channel for your location?
how did you determine that it is a known good channel?

MythTV and HDTV is still a little buggy. While it should have recorded the 5 minutes, it is possible that it recorded w/o sound.

It is an EPIA 800Mhz. I'm only using it for recording, not playback, so the processor is actually kind of overkill ;-) It's mostly idle during recording on R5A12.

Yup. According to "hdparm /dev/hda"
using_dma = 1 (on)

Yes. But maybe I'll try a few others to see if that helps any.

I watched for a channel with good signal strength as I went through "Scan For Channels" under Channel Setup in mythtv-setup

Well, I would say "MythTV and HDTV under DVB drivers" is buggy. I'm having excellent stability on my other box with the older drivers. Even with two cards recording at the same time, the shows look and sound great. Only problem is that I can't record two and watch a third at the same time :-)

I know, I'm asking for WAY to much from my poor little Athlon XP M (2Ghz).

Anyway, I guess I'll wait for the next kernel/DVB drivers unless anyone has any other ideas. I'm guessing nobody is really using 15.1 with the HD2000 right now.

I have to agree that the new dvb drivers are quite buggy. I also had mostly good luck with the old drivers, but with the dvb drivers I get lots of lockups and loss of sound. The only reason I haven't reverted yet is I want to spend a day sometime and give qam a go.
