My problems occur when watching live tv. I've tried a number of things to no avail. The latest is to try to upgrade the ivtv driver to the one cesman suggested. When I do I'm able to compile and install the driver but get a compile error:

root@mythtv:~/ivtv/utils # make
cc -D_GNU_SOURCE -DSAA7115_REGTEST -O2 -Wall test_ioctl.c -o test_ioctl
cc -D_GNU_SOURCE -DSAA7115_REGTEST -O2 -Wall ivtvfbctl.c -o ivtvfbctl
ivtvfbctl.c: In function `get_state':
ivtvfbctl.c:31: error: syntax error before '[' token
ivtvfbctl.c:43: error: syntax error before '[' token
ivtvfbctl.c:49: warning: unsigned int format, long unsigned int arg (arg 2)
ivtvfbctl.c:50: warning: unsigned int format, long unsigned int arg (arg 2)
ivtvfbctl.c: In function `ivtv_frame_loop':
ivtvfbctl.c:67: warning: unsigned int format, long unsigned int arg (arg 2)
ivtvfbctl.c:86: error: syntax error before '[' token
ivtvfbctl.c:88: warning: `return' with a value, in function returning void
ivtvfbctl.c: In function `main':
ivtvfbctl.c:177: error: syntax error before '[' token
ivtvfbctl.c:184: error: syntax error before '[' token
ivtvfbctl.c:189: error: syntax error before '[' token
make: *** [ivtvfbctl] Error 1

I did extract the driver from my hauppauge CD with the instuctions in the tar.

Now when I view xawtv with the unsuccessful compile I get: Inappropriate ioctl for device.

I have a digidice case which only has one pci slot.

Jason

hmmmmm somehow I remember a thread where it was said that xawtv will never work with a pvr-x50 card.
however, i have had the same issues compiling ivtv, and the only one which worked a bit was the one suggested by cesman. (i tried almost every version from 0.12-019), since i still had problems with my tv-out on the 350, i have upgraded to myth 013 (with cesman perfect instructions) and ivtv 019. live-tv, recording, playback of recording works perferct. i still have to convince mplayer to use mpegpes, but this is another thread..........

so i would recommend you to upgrade to myth 013 and ivtv 019.

Its strange, all of a sudden I'm get this compilation error as well with ivtv-031125A-0.12.tar.gz. I was able to compile it with no problems before, but this time I had first installed 0.1.9 version of ivtv just to see if I would get any performance increases, but I could not get tv-out to work. I actually had the PVR 350 tv-out working with the .12 ivtv drivers with a previous installation, but I screwed it up trying to install Myth0.13 (I Should have left it alone :))

To remove the 0.1.9 drivers, I did a run make clean in the ivtv/driver and ivtv/utils directories and then tried to install the 0.12 version but got the compile errors. When I look at the code for the '[' token in ivtvfbctl.c, it is not there. Why would this compilation error occur?

hmmm no clue.
change to ivtv directory and do rm -rf * (this will delete all files and directory)
un-tar & try again.
