??About external CR-RW. ??
Is it standard external CD-RW or you bought third party enclosure. I would be interested if I could take out my internal DVDRW and put it in external enclosure. This way DVDR could be used to backup my other PCs.

It's a QUE 32x10x40 on firewire I bought 2 years ago. I would expect I could swap out any drive inside and have been contemplating such since a dual layer DVD +/-RW can be had for less than $75 now. I really like its portability and speed.

The VIA chipset hasn't caused any problems execpt occasionally the networking doesn't start (DHCP) on boot. I just give it another kick (dhclient) and it works 2nd time everytime.

I guess the 'Cant-do-it-the-easy-way' bug has me currently trying to get Gentoo Native 64bit working. I believe the 64bits could work better since it is a lot of decoding to get HD to work.

The hardware is beautiful. The shuttle box is a sweet design and everything fits together perfectly. It boots fine with Knoppix but Knoppmyth (latest iso) I get boot prompt but then when it boots I get a black screen & nothing. I am also using an LCD monitor. The video card has DVI & SVGA outpts and I am using the DVI with an adapter if that matters.

Any ideas for cheat codes? Is there any way to pull the config info from knopix and use it in Knopmyth?

I am also thinking of using Kanotix or Gentoo for the 64 bit support.

Any other ideas? Thanks a million.

Which release of Knoppix are you using? Have you tried
Code:
knoppmyth noacpi
? Do you have PnP disabled in BIOS?

I was wondering how your nForce3 motherboard worked with KnoppMyth?

I'm in the process of installing KnoppMyth (my second KnoppMyth box) onto a newer platform. I've purchased the following and have gotten KnoppMyth R5A15.1 installed and configured using an older PATA hard drive (to test with before I buy big hard disks).

CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3200+
Mobo: DFI LANPARTY UT nF3 250Gb
Case: Antec Sonota (Quiet Black Case)
RAM: Kingston 1GB PC3200 (1 stick)
HDD: Toshiba 20GB ATA 100 (again for testing only)
Tuner: Hauppauge WinTV GO (a PVR-350 with be used on the final box)
DVD: Memorex DVD-RW Dual Layer
Floppy: 1.44MB
Zip: Zip 100 Drive

I have a problem with the integrated Network Card on the Motherboard. It is not recognized. I had to install a 3Com PCI NIC to get KnoppMyth running (using NetCardConfig). Sound seems to output okay (at least with PC games). But I wonder about other devices not being recognized as well, like the USB, Firewire, etc.

Also, I tried to install KnoppMyth R5A15.1 on an Seagate 80GB Serial SATA Hard drive, but I didn't have any luck. I'm not sure if it is something I'm doing wrong (Manual Install Process), or if it is a nForce3 Mobo issue! Are you going to use Serial ATA Hard Disks on your nForce3 system?

Your thoughts and experiences would be very appreciated!
