I have an stalwart old Hauppauge WinTV 401. In the last 6 months I misplaced the IR receiver cable that comes with it, and thus, on my latest mythtv install, have been struggling mightily to get an IRman working, and failing.

I'm also planning to augment my system with a a PVR 500 or a PVR 150MCE, but I don't believe these come with those dongles, either.

I scoured the Hauppauge website, to see if they stocked the cable in question, but couldn't find it. So I thought'd I'd throw the question out to this fine forum: Does anyone know where to get these things? Or, barring that, does anyone know how to make them? I remember it relying on a mini-mini-plug (smaller even than a 2.5mm cell phone connector, I think), so it might be a trick.

Next stop is finding a phone number for the folks at Hauppauge, I s'pose.

You can always make or buy ($10 - $15) a serial receiver. I have both (different machines) - the homemade serial works flawlessly...

well, hauppauge are just about the friendliest company around. I called up to ask if I could buy a replacement, and they said they'd send me one priority mail, free of charge. What service!

Of course, the reason I was interested in buying them in the first place was my incorrect assumption that the PVR500 and 150MCE could support a remote, but just didn't come with the connector and the remote. After looking at a friend's, it appears this isn't the case, and I'll have to get irman or some homebrew solution working for mythtv #2.
