Hi,

My remote works when I start mythfrontend as a SU but doesn't work when mythfrontend auto loads during bootup or if I load it from the menu.

I figured this was software instead of hardware because as a SU the remote works fine.

Any ideas on what I can do? Permissions or something?

Thanks!

Code:
ls -al /dev/lircd
Should look something like
Quote:
prw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 Jul 29 2004 /dev/lircd
Of course, it would help if we knew more about your remote.

hey! thanks for the response.

I ran the commands as a SU and came up with

ls -al /dev/lircd
srw-rw-rw- 1 root root 0 May 27 23:12 /dev/lircd (in purple)

ls -al /dev/lircm
prw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jul 30 2004 /dev/lircm (in yellow)

Comes out the same as a non-SU except without the coloring.

I'm using a WinTV Go Plus card with the new Hauppauge remote hooked up to it... A415 on the battery cover.

What do the s and p mean?

EDIT-
I'm thinking the s came from me using:
chmod +s /usr/bin/mythfrontend
and
chmod +s /dev/lircd

This didn't change anything afaik as the remote SU thing was the exact same then.

On a sidenote,,

ls -al /usr/bin/mythfrontend
-rwsr-sr-x 1 root root etc /usr/bin/mythfrontend (green)

I have most of my installation details logged at:
http://plaza.ufl.edu/alusby/mythtv/

Again, thanks for your time!

I've solved my problem! Turns out it was quite obvious.

I was putting the lircrc file as /root/.mythtv/lircrc instead of the /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc

Whoops!
