Cecil, Dale,

You've out done yourselves. I took my production R4V2 system up to R5A16 today and everything is working great. I didn't do an auto upgrade, opting instead for a full reinstall. I'm going to look at bringing in my recordedprograms table later on.

I have a pretty normal 2 tuner system. 2 PVR 250s, both on coax and one of them being fed by a STB for my pay channels.

Everything, including my 802.11g (DLink DLW-520G) worked out of the box (all that took was configuring /etc/network/interfaces for my static IP and WEP key).

The only thing that took me any amount of time was getting the homebrew IR transmitter working, and following the docs posted here: http://losdos.dyndns.org:8080/public/my ... _LIRC.html made that relatively painless.

One thing I have discovered so far is that the default path to mplayer seems to be incorrect. It is listed as /usr/local/bin/mplayer in the database but the binary is at /usr/bin/mplayer

Having built myth systems since .8, I can say this is honestly the easiest, most complete install I've ever done. In a matter of a few short hours I have a multi-tuner system, with IR set top support, up and running and enjoying all the different modules.

Nice work.

-Jeff

I have also taken my old R4V5 upto R5A16 today. It seems really nice, detected gigabit out of box, had a bit different method of setting up nvidia drivers, but i found out how to do it quickly, and had to manually put in something to start lirc on boot. Setup samba with webmin on start. Recompiled mplayer no problem, also no need for recompile of ivtv for my pvr250 that was required in r4v5.

It might be my imagination but the funny lines on channel 2 seem to be less as well which is always nice :) (watching straight coax-->tv, they never show up).

Still having a bit of trouble getting a second tuner to work but i'll be trying to fix that tomorrow.

I'm afraid not. That was a fresh install on to a spankin' new 400GB drive. But since thats all I could possibly complain about I still give you an A+. :)

Thanks again,

-Jeff

PS - I would also like to suggest we add the volume controls for mplayer to the default lircrc file for the hauppauge remote...

actually I find that using the left and right buttons on the 4 button area in the middle control volume nicely.
