Does anyone know of any specific how-tos for getting an Irman to work with Lirc? The instructions at http://knoppmythwiki.org/index.php?page=LIRCHowTo are not specific to this device and do not work as stated for it, nor is the official Lirc page helpful in any way at all, and there doesn't seem to be anything relevant anywhere that I can find via Google or here.

I took the instructions on the Wiki as far as they go, but from the "Misc setup:" section on they are no longer relevant to the Irman. I have no idea what the "module name" is for the Irman, /usr/local/sbin/lircd will not run because I do not have a /etc/lircd.conf file, and I can't create one using irrecord without getting a:

irrecord: could not open /dev/lirc
irrecord: irman_init(): No such device
irrecord: could not init hardware (lircd running ? --> close it, check permissions)

..and yes, I get the message if Lirc is running or not. I am mystified. Any ideas?

Well, I finally got irrecord to run and it detected the remote and made a config file. I wish I could tell you what I did, but I have no clue; I have been doing stuff and making changes for hours and something clicked.

A couple of notes:

Make sure you grab and compile the libirman library before compiling Lirc if using the Irman. it will fail otherwise.

The Lirc Wiki mentions adding /usr/local/sbin/lircmd to the bootup, but since there is no config file, it will fail. Since that is for emulating the mouse with a remote control it isn't needed for MythTV. It also suggests adding commands to /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh to get them running on bootup, but that didn't work for me. I had to do as another post suggested and load up the Webmin, go through the Bootup and Shutdown screen, and tell lirc to automatically start before I could get anything working in Myth.

Another question. All my keys work except for "Up". I have both the channel up and up arrow button on the remote bound to it, and neither work. The case appears to be correct, and "Down" and "Left" and "Right" all work, but not Up. Very odd.
Edit: Nevermind, I figured this one out. it turns out that the remote is sending the same codes for completely different buttons. It's a learning universal remote, so that's easily fixable.

Is there a canonical list of key commands that MythTV uses in the lircrc file?
