I have a source called "Cable TV" bound to tuner0 and one I called "Line input" bound to composite0.

I hooked up a camcorder to the composite input on the card, and I can switch between inputs while in Watch TV mode. The video is fine....I can see the tape playing in the camcorder. I plugged in the audio from the camcorder into the line input on the PVR card, and I hear the tape's audio fine.

The problem is that I can still hear the audio from the tuner when I'm on the composite input, so what I get is a mixture of audio on the tape and audio from the tuner. The problem exists the other way too - the tape audio can be heard while switched to tuner0 input.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Robert

I upgraded ivtv to 0.3.6o and it fixed the problem.

Now I'd like to know how to record this external input...if I press R on the keyboard while watching the camcorder input, it dislays Record "". Since it has no EPG information, it likely doesn't know how long to record, etc., it never actually records it.

Kind of a kludge, but this works.

In the source I created called Line Input, I created a channel with a number that wasn't being used on my tuner source. Then I can just go to that channel and it switches to the composite input.

Now to get around Myth wanting programming information before it lets you record, I wrote a perl script that adds a record to the mysql program table to create a dummy program listing on my line-in channel, lasting 2 to 3 hours, which is long enough for the application I need (dubbing old camcorder tapes). Then you can go to the programming guide, hit R on your keyboard, or record on your remote, and it will start recording. There are various ways to stop it early, but I'll leave that as an exercise for the reader.

To simplify this, I bound one of the unused buttons on my remote to call this script using irexec. I used mythtvosd to send a scrolling message across the screen when the dummy show is created, informing that line-in is ready to go.

Just a word of caution - mucking around in your mysql tables can seriously break your setup, so be careful if you try this.

Hi , I've just started with mythtv and have no big experience in making perl scripts. I also use the composite input for copying and recording. I also have the problem with Button R record "" , and no rpg time data.
So could you please publish your script here or send it to me :
jens.hackel@gmail.com

And how to create this source Line input ?

Thanks for your support!

Jens

Hi,
I also would be interested in the perl script as I have some wedding movies and grand kids being baptised.
Currently you can setup a manual record (works good with the browser feature) and then stop manually by going to Home > Media Library > Watch Recordings > select your recording for the menu. If something is being recorded the stop feature is there for you:)
The one hot Record button would be nice. I have my composite video as channel one since in the states, tv channel one hasn't been around for a long time.
Thanks
Mike

Yes.. would you make this script available with some instructions? I'd like to do some things to copy off some of the DVD's that libcss can't decrypt...

Thanks,

-Ben

Ok, so I think I am being stupid... Can't get my composite input to work.; I have a PVR 150.

Settings:
Capture Cards: Mpeg-2 Encoder (pvr-250, PVR-350) Video Device: /dev/video0 Default Input: Tuner0

Video Sources: Cable (with the XMLTV listings info filled out) Channel Freq: default.
Second Video Source: AV Input (With nothing else filled in)
Input Connections: Composite0 = AV Input; Tuner0 = Cable
Under the Composite0 setup screen: Source AV Input; Input Pref 0; Last 3 blank
Channel Editor: I added a channel 1 , Video Source AV Input, Format NTSC.

So what am I doing wrong.. I can view TV great, but cannot switch to the input.

TIA.
Troy

For the AV Input source, did you select channel 1 as your starting channel?

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you... I knew it was something dumb...

Now for the $64,000 question.. Why can't I manually record from this "channel"?

I can set everything, but when I go into the screen to select the quality, etc. The first option only gives me do not record this program.
