"it seems there is no Xvideo supper for your video card available"

i have a nvidea geforce 2 gts 32mb, hooked up to my monitor

so i ran xvinfo and it says no adapters present

no, i thought it installed the correct drivers on install.

how would i install the nvidia drivers

i trieed to run the
install-nvidia-7174-debian.sh

and i ger you must be in root to run this script!

im new to linux and dont know how to get to the root
so could someone tell me how to do that
i am at goober@mythtv:$

at the terminal, type

su

then it asks for the password, which is whatever you set your administrator password to on setup. type that in (you wont see it appear on screen) and hit enter. the $ will change to # and thats how u know ur logged in as root
