What settings must I change so that the transcoded TV-shows end up in proper .mp4 format in a separate folder, so I can transfer and burn to DVD on my PC?

I have changed all transcoder settings to MPEG-4 highest quality, but they're still in .nuv-format and still reside in the /myth/tv folder. I have the latest version of KnoppMyth installed.

Everything else pretty much works fine now, except this, and the fact that I can't get the MAME function to work (.cav-file, ROMs!?!?). It would sure be nice to get the CD/DVD-burning of TV-shows working as well, since it would enable even my parents to do it for themselves, instead of me having to transfer them to my computer first and then burn them.

NUV is used as a wrapper format... The MPEG2 file from my PVR 250 still have ".nuv" on the end too, but anything that is smart enough to ignore the extension has no trouble handling them as MPEG2 files.

Ok, that's great if it works. I'll try burn some of the .nuv files to a CD and try them in my Divx/Xvid/MP4 DVD-player later. Wondering if it is smart enough to read .nuv, though. Perhaps I could just put .mp4 in there instead of .nuv?

Another problem is that it's extremely hard to figure out what show it is from the name... 145719735627545345.nuv... what's that supposed to be? Some way I could move a particular file from within Mythtv to a particular folder, then copy it to my PC over SMB?

Search http://www.knoppmythwiki.org/ for "samba" for info on moving files to Windows. Search this forum and/or knoppmythwiki for "pretty" or "mythlink.sh" for info on a script that makes symbolic links with regular names.

For external consumption (like on a CD) you can rename the file when you copy it, or else use a symlink to add an arbitrary alias of your choice. (I strongly advise however that you NOT put spaces in whatever names you use. Spaces are allowed, but cause havoc with the assumptions in many shell scripts.) There is already a script that does something like this for you, called /usr/local/bin/mythlink.sh which is run every hour.

tlc: Yes I use that now and it works great. However, I can't play the files on ANY player. Made a new thread about that problem.
