I use nvtv to overscan my TV and since I've done that now I get the dreaded blue line on certain shows.

Whenever I'm watching a wide-screen TV-show on my 4:3 TV-set, I get a blue, thick line on the top of the video which is VERY distracting. I haven't found any settings, either in MythTV settings or in conf-files on the HD where I can change the apparent background-color of the player. I guess the Internal player is a variant mplayer? If so, where are the settings?

I managed to fix the blue line problem in xine-gui (my choice of media-player as changed in the setup) by going through the graphical setup, but it took a while to figure out where the setting for background-color was. I had the blue-line before, but now that the background is black, it's invisible. I wish I could do the same for the Internal player.

One of these two options will fix ya up.

export DISPLAY=:0.1
xvattr -a XV_COLORKEY -v 66048

OR

/usr/local/bin/xvattr -a XV_COLORKEY -v 0

It turns the blue area to black and it's not a problem any more. I've put it in my xinitrc and it does this fiddle automatically whenever X is started.

Hmm... it seems that happiness isn't here yet, sadly... Though the command in itself work excellently (I've tried to inputting it in an Xterminal after shutting down mythfrontend, then starting it back up, the blue line is gone), the xinitrc did nothing. I still have to input the command manually after every single reboot, and it gets seriously on my nerves.

Even tried using the command as a crontab, but it doesn't seem crontab is running at all... I've got an ntpdate command to set the time, but it doesn't seem to be run either...

What should I do? All I need is for the xvattr command to be run automatically after the X-server is launched, it could even be after mythfrontend itself is started. Help!

have you tried searching for xvattr ? I have posted instructions on how to fix this permanently on every reboot, and others have posted alternate methods.
