any error message at top of the stream log...I had a "no sound" issue...I had a codec issue....error withing first 20-30 lines or so.

which version of knoppmyth are you using? You are using an mpeg2 capture, right?

I am using Knoppmyth r5a16 and i installed a new kernel 2.6.12 because of my airstar dvb-t card.
When i copiled vlc i got an error, thomething with mpeg2 and i tried it again with the option: --disable -mpeg2
than i could install it without any errors.
When i start the stream over mythweb i tried all combinations with the options: http, mms, high sound, low sound etc.
I get a perfect picture but without sound.
the website message are:

Starting Stream of /myth/tv/1_20050711152200_20050711153100.nuv
VLC media player 0.8.1 Janus

and lower:

when i klick at refresh logfile i get this message:

I tried to compile vlc again and got a message to install libmpeg2,
so i went to: http://libmpeg2.sourceforge.net
and installed it.
Now i could install vlc without any errors.
ffmpeg installing was also without any errors.
BUT i have no sound in the streaming video.
I get the following message in the log window:

- proto=HTTP
- version=1
- msg=3

the message window is displaying the bottom of the text in the log.txt file in the directory you have installed into (/myth/stream on my box)

You probably want to check out the top of that file. You may see more info there.

What I guess is the issue might be your card....This is the first line on the mythstreamtv sourceforge site
Quote:
MythTV addon that allows live transcoding and streaming of mpeg 1/2 (PVR-x50/M-179/DVB/ATSC/HD) to Windows Media Player/Mplayer and allows control via MythWeb.

Does your card fit into this catagory....disabling mpeg2 seems like a step in the wrong direction. IMHO.

guess you figured out your issue. Yes, mythstreamtv can not stream anything cept mpeg1/2

You could manually start streams using VLC directly... but it wouldn't be web-controlled. The best you could hope for would be SSH.

I found a way to watch tv at my windows machine, but it has nothing to do with mythtv.
I record a programm with mencoder to the folder /cach/cache as avi and open the avi file with mplayer over the samba server.
But first i have to stop mythbackend:

/etc/init.d/mythtv-backend stop

I use this command:

mencoder dvb://ARD -o movie.avi -oac copy -ovc copy

A channellist is needed: /home/mythtv/.mplayer/channels.conf

its seems to be a good working way.

When i try to watch the recorded nuv files the mpayer crash every 10 minutes.

I too are experiencing problems with MythWeb streaming and no sound in Windows Media Player. I also tried streaming with VLC Media Player and no luck either!

The Myth install is KnoppMyth 0.18 (Dec 05) and the NUV files play with video & sound just fine via SMB to the original mplayerc.exe.

In WMP (v10), when clicking on properties of the mythtv stream, it shows no audio codec!

So has anybody got any ideas on how to fix this?

root@mythtv:~# ps ax|grep vlc
6731 ? Sl 2:24 /usr/local/bin/vlc -I http --http-host=:8002 --sout-transcode-fps=25 --sout-transcode-deinterlace /myth/tv/1009_20060125195900_20060125203000.nuv :sout=#transcode{vcodec=DIV3,acodec=mp3,vb=256,ab=96,scale=1}:std{access=mmsh,mux=asfh,url=:8001}

I'm having the same problem, thought I'd give this a bump. I've searched the forums and unfortunately VLC and WMP both give me fits: perfect video, no audio.

I've created a little script that will basically do the same thing as mythstreamtv (the vlc commands are the same) and here is some output when I load the stream:

Code:
[00000287] main interface: creating httpd
[00000380] ffmpeg encoder error: cannot find encoder MPEG Audio layer 1/2/3
[00000294] stream_out_transcode private error: cannot find encoder ((null))
[00000294] stream_out_transcode private error: cannot create audio chain
[00000372] main packetizer error: cannot create packetizer output (mpga)

output from uname -a for reference
Code:
Linux mythtv 2.6.18-chw-13 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Mar 6 19:57:00 PST 2007 i686 GNU/Linux

Has anyone come across this type of problem? It seems as though audio encoding fails for some reason.

I think I finally solved the problem.

The mythstreamtv updates output MPGA and MP3 in capital letters - however, VLC requires them to be in LOWERCASE and unfortunately, VLC is now case sensitive.

The simple solution was to edit the confirm.php file (located in /var/www/mythweb/modules/streamtv/tmpl/detfault/ in my case) which is the code for selecting the audio codec and change them from uppercase to lower case in all instances.

However, this only worked for MP3 - even with recompiles etc., I never got MPGA working.
