Hey everyone,

Thought i would run this by you guys and see if you can help me out. I have my Slave Backend box connected to my tv, using an MX4000 video card, with compsite out (using svideo adapter). This system is running an athlon64 2800+ on a Gigabyte GA-K8VM800M motherboard.

The problem i am having is when anything white comes on the screen it looks like my vsync comes on. For instance, on the evening news if the screen goes to white, it loses its vsync, but as soon as a graphic comes up in that white area it brings the vsync back. Its absolutly blowing my mind. I have the 6139 nvidia drivers install (using the script) and my vsync in my XF68config-4 file is set for 60hz.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

two things

1) try nvidia-settings and adjust the flicker settings.

2) the newer drivers seem to do better with this unless you are running at 1080i which you are not, so you may want to try them.

on R5A16 there are two nvidia install scripts one for the version you installed and one for a 77?? version. Just use the script for the newer ones just like you did for the 66?? version.

Hey Xsecrets, tried the other drivers, no go, so i swapped out the video card from one i got off ebay for $20, a GeForce4 MX 440, and bam shes looking good - no problems here and my frontend so far has not crashed. (it crashed like a mofo with the other card) so heres hoping i have it stable now. now if i can get a bootsplash showing, the wife will be happy! (for some reason she doesnt want to see all the text and junk loading, oh well).

Now if i can get digital audio (digital coax) out from my Hercules Game Theater XP working ill be set, it doesnt even show up in my alsamixer, just input no output. any ideas?

- Scott

on a subnote, i never thought i would only have 2 more things to do, bootsplash and digital audio.... damn this project rocks...

there was a thread very recently about getting bootsplash working. (though if you just don't turn it off then it shouldn't matter ;))

you can look at the digital sound howto on the wiki for information on that. It's based on nforce2, but should be mostly the same for any card that has supported digital outputs. I know it was very similar for my intel onboard.
