I haven't built my system yet, but I have the following question:

If I want to archive a TV show that I like to a video DVD, is it easy to do this with MythTV without using a computer keyboard, that is, by using my remote control and navigating only the MythTV menus? This would need to include some some of rudimentary authoring so the disc would play in other DVD players.

Mythtv itself doesnt support it, but knoppmyth also installs nuv2disc which does. Not sure if you can do everything with the remote but I suspect so.

nuv2disc does have lirc support, and I think the default lircrc file now has most of the important buttons mapped.
