Hi,

I've installed R516A (latest release) on my first Myth box. I use a single Nova-T card on a 1700XP with a GF5200. The installation completes succesfully.

Once I've ran the 7154 script to install the Nvidia kernel module drivers X starts up and I can enter the second lot of details, like IP confirm Timezone.

Then the mythtv-setup runs and I can also set-up my DVB card, channel details and transponder details.

Now once myth-frontend starts up I can flick the TV channels.

However, upon rebooting the set I can no longer view any channels!

Running mythtv on its own produces the following;

So what could be the issue? I've not strayed too far from the install docs and am surprised no one else has reported similar problems.

Thanks for looking!

Dan

What would cause MYTHFRONTEND to delete my starting channel so that the whole thing stops working? I have to quit the frontend, stop mythbackend as root. Run mythsetup and set the starting channel again. Then restart mythbackend and then start mythfrontend!

How annoying! any one else seen this ?

Thanks

Dan

okay. finally getting somewhere.

MYTHFRONTEND does change the starting channel ID automatically when browsing through the channels.

I might need to remove any channels that were picked up by the scan but have no name just in case it locks up and I need to reset the starting channel.

Would be nice if the MYTHFRONTEND defaulted to the selected starting channel rather than the last starting channel.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

Let the recording commence!

Dan, tricky problem. "No PIDS set" error is one I have encountered heaps, usually due to me not setting the Starting Channel (in mythtv-setup) to something real (i.e. a scanned channel).

I have never seen the "doesn't work after reboot" problem.

What does this SQL command:
SELECT * from channels;
in:
mysql -u root mythconverg
list?

Hi,

Everything sorted. You guessed correctly. The starting channel had no value although I DO SET IT EVERYTIME. Myth should really make sure that a value should always be present, otherwise LIVETV won't work at all.

Hopefully a feature that will be implemented in a future release. DVB seems to be less tolerant over a starting 'blank' channel.

Recording works fine now although any scheduled recording using the Web Browser frontend doesn't seem to change the channel! Got two segments of James Bond rather than Richard Branson and Big Brother.

Hello dan

I have the same problem.

http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... 3183#33183

Is it working for you now?

If so can you tell me what you did to get it working.

Thanks Wim

No, I have just seen your other post. I found the same solution by quitting Myth, stopping the backend, running mythtv-setup and setting the starting channel again.

I also found that Myth is quite happy to schedule recordings and works fine. After recording you can browse live tv as it left the starting channel on whatever you just recorded.

So your buggered Wim.

Sorry

Nooo !!

I am having the same problem. I can set it having previously stopped the backend, but as soon as I reboot, it's all gone again.

I think this is some kind of bug. I had the same experience.

Setting up channels from 1 to7, changing startup channel to 1. Works fine. Rebooting. Startup channel changed...

But after a while things just worked. I messed around a lot with channel numbers, changing one channel to the number that startup changed to (I think it was 2110). So I hade channels 2110, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and startup set to 2110. Worked like a charm. Then after a while I tried chaing startup back to 1 and changing the first channel to 1. And it worked...

I changed both ip's from 127.whatever to the actual ip 192.whatever and I no longer have the problem. Maybe that fixed it?! Either way I am happy :D
