I have a Chaintec 7NIF2, for which I want to use the S-video out, a PVR-350, and a HD3000.

After performing an auto-install of R5A16, then running the install-nvidia-7174-debian shell script, and then making the necessary changes to XF86Config-4, I get X running on my TV as expected.

But when I try to watch live TV, all I get is a black screen and the UI seems to hang (Ctrl-Alt-Backspace still recovers and restarts X, but ESC doesn't get me back to the menu).

I know from my previous use of this PVR-350 in R4, that the tuner type is 47. I am looking at my /etc/mythtv/modules/ivtv file and I can copy the info to the new setup, but this brings me no joy.

It was suggested that I look in the logs and I did and found this in /var/log/mythtv/mythbackend.log:

Code:
2005-06-29 19:24:13.786 Changing from None to WatchingLiveTV
Error getting codec params
IVTV_IOC_G_CODEC:: Bad address
2005-06-29 19:24:13.975 TVRec: Recording Prematurely Stopped

Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

So I got suspicious about my pcHDTV 3000 and on a hunch I pulled it out of the system. I had to re-assign video sources in myth-setup and the first thing I noticed was for my PVR-350 now there are four "Svideo" inputs listed instead of one. I don't know what to make of that.

But I assigned the Datadirect video source to the first one and now when I selected Watch TV I get about 2 seconds of good video and then it hangs. But if I hit ESC it will return to the menu after about 5 seconds, whereas before it would not return at all.

It sort of seems like it's having trouble streaming the data to disk.

I scheduled a recording, though, and the recorded file is there and does play back.

How curious.

Did you ever get this working? I have a similar set up with both 350 and 3000 cards. After playing for a little while, I now can record shows on the 3000 card, but get nothing off the 350 even though the dmesg records all look right and it worked great until I added the 3000. I also get nothing but black from either card on live tv. In the past, if there was a problem I would get static or black on live tv, but there would always be a nice clear strip across the screen announcing the selected channel. Now I don't even get that.

I was hoping you would have some hints.

Check for posts by me that mention the hd3000. I had a similar problem and traced it down to the order the cards are listed by lspci. If you run lspci and the hd3000 is listed BEFORE your PVR-350, you may have the same problem.

I ran across a couple of these and they sound eerily like my problem, but I couldn't find any clear answers as too how to fix it.

I do know from dmesg that the 3000's settings get processed before the 350's, so I am continuing the search in this direction, but if you could point me to some of them, it would be appreciated.

This one is pretty unambigous, and even shows a context diff of the change needed.

Edit a file, insert one line, with a single word on it...
