Hi!
I'm having problems with re-running mythtv-setup to setup xmltv and all that stuff...
Everytime I run that command I get an "cannot connect to x" error.

I then searched the forum and found this http://mysettopbox.tv/phpBB2/viewtopic. ... +connect+x

But this doesn't help... :? I then get an "cannot connect to x server :0.0".

How to solve this problem?
Maybe it's caused by my new Wlan card I just got to work... 'Don't know.. Maybe you do?
Thx in advance...

foxx

Are you running mythtv-setup from an xterm on the graphical desktop?
You can't easily just run X programs from a console.

How do you execute the mythtv-setup command from the MythTV GUI?

or let me ask it another way.. How do I get to an xterm from the MythTV GUI?

Thanks!

you have to hit esc until you get out of the mythtv interface then you hit alt+s for mythtv-setup or alt+x for an xterm or alt+m to get back into the mythtv frontend.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! (I knew there had to be a secret handshake somewhere.. I just couldn't find it in the docs.)

Funny, those shortcuts don't work at all for me-I triued all 3 of them.
Was this introduced with R5A15 or something? (I'm using R5A12)

Yes. You need to exit to the desktop, use a mouse to access the background menu and get an xterm, and then run it manually from there.

Thanks. You may want to specify that next time.

??? If you're asking a question it's up to you to provide enough detail to get a good answer, especially if your sysytem is off the mainstream in some way. If you don't it's most likely your own fault if the answers aren't relevant. Xsecrets made a perfectly reasonable assumption, that you were running the current version, and those directions work just fine there.
