OK, so its a month later, but I've been stuck in Melbourne.

To get LIRC working for your Leadtek 2000 card on 5a16, you need to do this (mostly taken from the wiki here).

apt-get remove lirc

download lirc-0.7.0 (NOT lirc-0.7.1) from www.lirc.org downloads

tar jxf lirc-0.7.0.tar.bz2
cd lirc-0.7.0
./setup.sh
option 1 and select your TV card - its in there (check type is 34)
select option to save and configure
make
make install

Add to the end of /etc/init.d/bootmisc.sh:

modprobe lirc_gpio
/usr/local/sbin/lircd

Grab customised lircrc and lircd.conf (maybe from here).

copy lircrc to /home/mythtv/.mythtv/lircrc
copy lircd.conf to /etc/lircd.conf

reboot
