I have a KWORLD KW-TV878RF-PRO pci tuner card that appears to be recognized by KNOPPMYTH with the following in DMESG at startup. I'd like to try to get MYTHTV working initially with this card to ldetermine if I can get MYTHTV working. I'm not expecting
much in the way of quality performance... only that I can indeed get MYTHTV working.
I have installed RA16 on my system.

Code:
bttv0: Bt878 (rev 17) at 0000:00:0a.0, irq: 18, latency: 32, mmio: 0xe1107000
bttv0: using:  *** UNKNOWN/GENERIC ***  [card=0,autodetected]
bttv0: gpio: en=00000000, out=00000000 in=003fffff [init]
tveeprom(bttv internal): Huh, no eeprom present (err=-121)?
bttv0: using tuner=-1
bttv0: i2c: checking for MSP34xx @ 0x80... not found
bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9875 @ 0xb0... not found
bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA7432 @ 0x8a... not found
bttv0: i2c: checking for TDA9887 @ 0x86... not found
bttv0: registered device video0
bttv0: registered device vbi0
[/code]

You will need to add a line like this to /etc/mythtv/modules/bttv. The tuner= bit may not be needed if you get the card= bit right.
Code:
options bttv card=34 tuner=5

Then when you look in dmesg it should indicate the correct card instead of UNKNOWN/GENERIC.
This is assuming your card is supported of course.

Greg

Thanks for the quick response... I tried seveal turner types and it appears that choice 78
produces the correct identification.

When I execute MYTHTV I get a single line numbered 1 that says television.... and a whole bunch of snow.... at least I feel I have a good KNOPPMYTH.... There were a whole bunch of messages issued by MYTHTV the key one being about not being able to display at 1024 x 768. One step at a time.....
Thanks for your help.

BTW... The KNOPPMYTH hard drive system boots in less than half the time the Knoppix 4.0 takes. I've added my wireless stuf and Mozilla and didn't break anything. <<G>>
